Danny Elfman's music will not be heard in Joe Johnston's troubled remake of The Wolfman when the movie is finally released on February 12, 2010. As reported by Cinemusic, Danny Elfman composed and recorded a "grandly gothic" score for The Wolfman, but can not return to make necessary changes to that music after major rehauls to the Universal film production.
Or maybe it was just the full moon. A lycanthropic Danny Elfman was last seen running through the woods with three cans worth of Barbasol smeared all over his naked body, singing Oingo Boingo's "Pedestrian Wolves", and waving around fistfuls of disposable razors. No one was injured this time.
Elfman cited scheduling conflicts preventing him from being able to return to make changes to the film. Tangerine Dream veteran Paul Haslinger has been hired to record a new score for the final version of the movie. Haslinger composed the pulsating electronic scores for Death Race 2000, Underworld, and Crank. The Wolfman stars Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, and the makeup FX of Rick Baker.
[sarcasm/]We can't wait to not hear another wonderful Danny Elfman score.[/sarcasm] Thank you, Hollywood; we love your constant reminders that there are bigger fuck-ups than the rest of us out there. Bravo.
